The Final Whistle

In December 2015, I joined a start-up that set out to assist athletes with transitioning from sport. Using my business partner’s expertise in career development and education, we decided to focus on the career aspect of life after sport, reasoning that by being able to answer the important question of, “What am I going to do next that will provide the same level of enjoyment?” we would go some way into alleviating the stress of retirement from sport.

In late 2008, I commenced my writing career, volunteering to write blog posts for The South African, a publication based in London for expat-South Africans. I had started a travelling stint and blogged about rugby and cricket, specifically giving readers a vantage point from my position sitting in the stadiums! This continued and I have written for them and edited the sports section on and off ever since.

Move to Australia

As mentioned before, I started blogging for The South African back in November 2008. Over the years, I developed a relationship with Blue Sky Publications (the publishing company) and in late 2012, they asked me to write some content for their Move to Australia category, much of which still appears on the site.

We are continuing to work on this project and have recently hit refresh on the content; I am also a business development representative for Blue Sky in Australia.
